Mars_life:
It was just announce the other day that NASA Scientists just discovered, buried in some rock they have had in their possession for 10+ years, that there exists evidence of life in the form of maggot type bugs millions of years ago.
I heard of this on CNN and it was the way it was announced that surprised me. It was much like announcing the bus schedule for the day or like " oh, by the way, scientists just discovered life exhisted on the planet Mars." And then on to the next topic like " .man bites dog!! The Jumbo Billies Hot Dog stand claims that a man bit into one of their Hot Dogs and .."
I mean, I maybe slow, dumb and not able to comprehend much; but to announce to the world that extra-terrestrial life does exist is something of an event in my book. I believe in UFOs and believe that it is absolutely ridiculous to think that we are the only ones in this universe. The odds are simply to great to assume that. After constant denial and purposeful misleading, the government will now have to open up the idea that live can exist outside of our realm. All religions deny that life outside of Earth exists. Now, how are they going to explain this. Now, all the UFO references will take on a new look. The ability to deny that life could exist outside of Earth as been the main argument against UFOs. They simply sat back and said "Prove it" or show me the proof". Everyone was told that it was impossible, well, now it is possible so the real question is "Did it ever get past the Maggot stage as indicated by the Rock" Of course it did, just like ours did. And even if it didnt on Mars due to some freak of Nature? (if that can be used as in Mother Nature now covers Mars?) the odds of finding two life forms on two planets in one comparatively small or is it itsy-bitsy, solar system would mean that the universe should be teaming with life. It would be like we are in the desert far, far, away .
It will be interesting to see how the officials will respond. It will take another year to independently confirm the findings (and time to work out solutions and justifications from past statements) and if false will be the downfall of NASA. If true, then I would buy NASA stock immediately as the race to find life will skyrocket and hopefully will be funded accordingly. It was just amazing the way it was handled, real nonchalant, like nothing really happened "Oh, by the way a space ship just landed in Oregon and now on to sports .."
