Just watched CNN news and saw a clip on Greg Morris, Actor in Mission Impossible in 1966-83?, died in Las Vegas. Apparently with suffering illness, but still walking about with golf, when asked if the illness bother him, declared that God has him in this universe for Something and when God punches his time card hell go. Simple as that.
This made me think about all the times the time that in frustration I could always look at the universe and state the same belief "Im here in this universe for something, my mission, goal, or as in Andy Worhals (spell?) words "..my 15 minutes of spotlight" will make it all worthwhile. Well, it would appear that Greg didnt have his mission in life (I recognize that maybe he did, by influencing someone else that would be more in the spot light.) and that all the hope of a Purpose in Life is not necessarily the true answer in life. We are not put in this universe with some mission, goal or what ever, we are in this universe just to live and fight it out. Is there no meaning in life?? Is it just a continuing struggle and what happens? I hope not.
I believe that we do infect the Universe in many small ways. A 1000 points of influence, if you will, in that the small day to day contact or doing things will affect others in such a way that they will do things, make decisions and in turn affect others. The others may in fact be the ones that receive the spot light. I know when talking with someone with a problem in exploring several solutions or thoughts they go off and declare that they "Thought of doing it this or that way" and take credit for the original idea." This in and of itself isnt a big problem but what if I hadnt talked to the person at that particular time and he/she made a decision based without the benefit of the talk, (just cut the conversation out of the life line altogether) it may have gone a different way maybe better? Or worse! So there is a purpose in that the small day to day items that affect people and the decisions that they make could be the Purpose. .. and then again maybe not.. heheheh
I still believe that Mr. Morris did in fact cause, influence, or affect the Universe, but it just wasnt in the Hollywood style of spotlights and hoopla. Maybe someone out there will contribute Mr. Morriss influence to his/her success and accomplishments. Just as an Artist isnt appreciated until after their death, so it maybe with Mr. Morris. I hope so To think that Life is just to live would only further the difficulty in the day to day struggle of making it all worth while. Cheers to you, Mr. Morris, in that I believe that you may have accomplished your yet unaccredited "Mission Impossible .. in Life"
